...and in San Antonio

1/18/06 at the AT&T Center

San Antonio 89, Bucks (19-18) 76

After scoring 33 points in the opening quarter, the Bucks went completely flat the rest of the way, as the defending NBA Champion Spurs won 89-76, with Manu Ginobili leading the way with 22 points, 8 assists and 4 assists.

The 2nd quarter was the reason why Milwaukee lost, as they only scored six points in that period, and were 3-for-18 in field goals. They followed that up with a 14 point quarter, as they went 5-for-18 from the field. The Bucks were 30-for-74 (40.5%) from the field overall while the Spurs shot 54.4% (37 of 68), and they were 8-of-14 from long distance.

San Antonio got big contributions from:

Tony Parker, who had 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals

Nazr Mohammed, who was 4-4 from the field and 4-4 from the line, he had 12 points and 5 rebounds

and Brent Barry, who was 4-6 from the field, and 2-4 from 3-point range.

Despite the loss, Michael Redd led the team with 21 points, with Jamaal Magloire having a good game with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists while T.J. Ford made up for his 6 point night (2-of-9 shooting) with 4 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals.

Hugh Fitzpatrick was just 3-for-9 from the field, but...

he grabbed 10 rebounds, made 7 assists and blocked 5 shots.

He also forced Tim Duncan to miss his first 6 shots (he went 4-13 from the field), held him to 9 rebounds and he only had 8 points.

And despite the 6 2nd quarter points and 14 in the 3rd, the Bucks outrebounded San Antonio 41-40 and had 10 steals, compared to the Spurs' 5.

But the Bucks come up empty tonight. Up next: they visit Philips Arena on 1/20 to take on the Hawks, then they host the Bobcats the next night.

The Bucks, now 19-18, have now lost 7 straight road games.
